In the beginning… There once were two children who lived upon an isolated chain of islands, a bona fide paradise in the middle of a deep blue sea. But these children had questions of their own, and an unexpected arrival from a realm beyond would change the children’s lives forever… Sora, Riku, and Kairi are three teenagers living in Destiny Islands, spending every waking moment of their summer playing together on a little speck of beach a five-minute rowboat trip from the island where they live with their families. This particular summer, when Sora and Kairi are fourteen and Riku fifteen, they’ve decided they’ve had enough of their secluded island home; they plan to build a homemade raft and set out for the outside world. Had Kairi not washed up ashore when the trio were very young, they may have never known other worlds even existed—or so Riku says. Sora and Riku have also set their sights on something new to compete over in friendly rivalry: their mutual friend, Kairi, whom both boys have a crush on. While Riku’s strength and cool manner seem to impress Kairi, Sora takes comfort in the special bond they formed when they were children—but carefully hides his true feelings from his childhood friend. However, the legend of the paopu fruit—a star-shaped fruit found on the trees of their island, with a supposed ability to romantically intertwine the destinies of two people who share one—intrigues him. In the Secret Place, a small cave nestled among the palm trees that only the three of them know about, he ponders the rock wall etchings he and Kairi made as children…and adds an etching of his hand giving a paopu fruit to her. However, Sora encounters a stranger as they prepare to leave—a cloaked intruder in the Secret Place. The intruder speaks of darkness, and of the worlds’ instability, and Sora is left wondering… The night before the three set off, a storm invades the Islands—but as all three soon find out, it is no ordinary summer squall. Arriving to check on the raft, Sora is attacked by strange beings of darkness who hunt him relentlessly as he seeks out his best friends. Riku stands on the island, embracing the darkness and giving in to the temptation it offers…and as darkness overtakes the two friends, Riku disappears into the raging storm, and Sora is left with a strange weapon in his hand—a sword shaped like a key. Coming to the Secret Place, he finds that Kairi has already been caught up in the darkness, and as he opens his arms to catch her, she disappears entirely. As the dark beings continue to invade his home, he is forced to fight with this strange new key-shaped weapon, but before he can come out victorious, all goes black… In an entirely different world, court mage Donald Duck arrives in the throne room of his Majesty, King Mickey…only to find that the King is missing. Pluto, his faithful dog, carries a letter assuring Donald of the King’s safety—but also with an urgent order that Donald and the Captain of the Royal Knights, Goofy, set out from Disney Castle in search of a man named Leon and “the Key to their survival”. With Queen Minnie and Lady Daisy’s blessing, and Jiminy Cricket tagging along as a scribe of their adventures, Donald and Goofy set off for the world of Traverse Town.
And this is information about the game and gameplay:

Kingdom Hearts is a crossover of various Disney settings based in a universe made specifically for the series. The series features an all-star voice cast, which includes many of the Disney characters' official voice actors and well-known actors such as Haley Joel Osment, David Gallagher, Jesse McCartney, and Hayden Panettiere. Characters from Square Enix's Final Fantasy series make appearances and interact with the player and the Disney characters. The series centers around the main character Sora's search for his friends and his encounters with Disney and Final Fantasy characters on their worlds.
The series consists of nine games—two main games developed by Square Enix, an enhanced version of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, a PlayStation 2 remake of the GBA game Chain of Memories titled Re:Chain of Memories and a V CAST mobile phone game developed by Superscape. Another mobile phone game was developed in-house by Square Enix while the last game, created for Nintendo DS, was developed in cooperation with h.a.n.d.. The second mobile phone game has only been released in Japan although there are plans to release it in other territories. The three main games were released in chronological order, with each new title following the events of the previous title, while the V CAST game was developed independently from the main series. The latest release Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep by Square Enix is for the PlayStation Portable. There is also another game wich is a mix between part 1 and 2 and it's called Final Mix.
Gameplay video for part 1:
Sucks we're way better:P
Gameplay video for part 2:
Ditto
Final Mix:
Ugh.. is it even worth saying ditto?
And of course you can look up the other games (see quote under spoiler). It is worth buying this game.

It changes the way you get your skills (is it named like that?). Ex. when you choose sword, you get a skill at level 17 that you get with staff on level 22.

not like that.
Offensive skills come first with the sword. Magic skills come first with the staff and so on.
I got a Kh2 guide and its explained there XD But the skill thing was easy to find out. I think google can tell what skills come with the weapons.
